5 FOREIGN VISITING SCIENTISTS’ FELLOWSHIPS

The President of INFN announces a public selection procedure, based on qualifications, for the assignment of up to n. 5 foreign visiting scientists’ fellowships.

To fulfill its role as a member of the world-wide community of scientific institutes, INFN offers the use of its research facilities in the four labs (LNF, LNGS, LNL, LNS), and in 20 units located at major Italian Universities, at its National Centers (CNAF, TIPFA, GGI), to established experienced scientists with staff positions in foreign research institutions, and with an existing professional relationship with INFN, for participating in its programme covering experimental and theoretical particle physics, as well as various related activities in applied physics, electronics, computing and engineering.

The call has been published here : https://jobs.dsi.infn.it/dettagli_job.php?id=4213

INFN research experimental activity in Milano-Bicocca spans from neutrino physics to quantum technologies and includes HOLMES, DARTWARS, Qub-IT, CUORE, CUPID, PTOLEMY and various R&D on low temperature microcalorimeters and superconducting quantum devices (qubits, parametric amplifiers...).

The deadline for the applications is January 31th , 2025

In case you are interested to apply please contact Angelo Nucciotti (or anyone here) as early as possible.

2 Research grants funded by the ICSC National Research Centre for High Performance Computing, Big Data and Quantum Computing expired

1) cooperation in research activities in the field of computer science on the topic
Quantum algorithms for the Detection of the Optimal Maximal Clique
with a duration of 16 months

During the project, quantum algorithms will be designed to solve optimization problems defined on maximal cliques of undirected graphs. The algorithms will then be implemented, presumably on quantum annealers, and their performance will be evaluated through numerous experiments.
The project is in collaboration with UnipolSai Assicurazioni S.p.A. and Politecnico di Milano

2) cooperation in research activities in the field of computer science on the topic
Serial code porting on HPC & Quantum Computing
with a duration of 16 months

The aim of the project is to rewrite some open source implementations of machine learning algorithms for Cybersecurity, in order to adapt them to HPC architectures and quantum computers. The performance of these algorithms will also be evaluated on numerous datasets taken from real applications relating to the prediction of cybersecurity attacks.
The project is in collaboration with SOGEI spa. UniversitĂ  di Roma Tor Vergata  and Politecnico di Milano
